Description: To see more of this series goto - www.VBS.tv Meredith Danluck is a New York artist, director, and all-around amazing person who has a killer collection of power tools. VBS bumped into her a few months ago and discovered that she has been working on a film in West Virginia, a sort of impressionistic account of the current environmental catastrophe in the Appalachian Mountains. Mining companies are destroying entire mountains in order to get at the coal inside them. Quickly and efficiently, the oldest mountain range in the world is being systematically obliterated. We sent Meredith and VBS correspondent Derrick Beckles to the hills and hollers of West Virginia to show us what the end of the world looks like. www.VBS.tv |

pennilesscripple ::: Favorites i'm afraid this guy's dry wit will be lost on the majority of youtubers, and they'll take what he says on face value.... 07-09-15 02:34:20 __________________________________________________
pennilesscripple ::: Favorites mesolithic forests take 10000 years to evolve. when they are gone, they are gone. you can't 'replant' a mesolithic forest. which side are you on? it amazes me how many people defend the crooks who are destroying our planet. they've trained you well. 07-09-15 02:32:40 __________________________________________________
bluemahajer ::: Favorites They can't put back the bio diversity, the old growth, the ecosystem of what they distroyed. 07-09-15 00:50:07 __________________________________________________
FairyMomma ::: Favorites You GUYS KNOW THAT WHEN THEY FINISH STRIP MINING, THEY REPLANT ALL THE TREES AND PUT BACK ALL THE DIRT THAT THEY MOVE. THEY HAVE TO, ITS STATE LAW 07-09-15 00:07:20 __________________________________________________
skankytater ::: Favorites This brings to mind a childhood story of Mr. McMillen's mountain. (I'm not sure if that's the right name.) Anyway, he and his wife wanted the mountain moved, and then realized all the things the mountain was good for. Sadly, our world will not turn out like the story. He had the mountain rebuilt and lived happyily ever after.... 07-09-14 21:23:49 __________________________________________________

ahanger ::: Favorites well im from VA and considering how close WV is to me i dont see state lines but i do travel to WV often for the beautiful untouched mountains and rivers that you can't find anywhere else and slowly you do see mountain top removal coal mines each time you go so keep on fighting alternative fuels like wind power and ethanol fuel.would you rather dam the valleys for hydro power?at least you could run some 2 cycle jetskis and fuck up the environment somemore all the while "enjoying the outdoors"! 07-06-03 02:28:34 __________________________________________________
