Punchbass2007 ::: Favorites The original archaeologists that found it were quoted saying; " It doesn't meet the standards of archaeology , but it makes good televison". In other words, The discovery was made, past tense. But this guy thought he could get his face on daytime talk shows with his "compelling argument". Maybe some pocket change to go with that. What a joke. 07-08-01 20:30:00 __________________________________________________

elGuapo45 ::: Favorites Hey HHJ, just wanted to let ya know i havent forgot about you, ive read the bio's on Metzger and Ehrman, very impressive. cant wait to read what they have to say. i pulled up a transcript from a debate between W.L.Craig and Bart Ehrman. i'll read when time permits. thanks, take it easy HHG. 07-07-15 22:06:06 __________________________________________________
hardheadjarhead ::: Favorites I suggest you read Bruce Metzger (who, sadly, passed away recently) and Bart Ehrman. The number of manuscripts we have dating before the third century is not so great as you think. Your arguments are hashed out in popular apologetics by people like Josh McDowell. They have no relevancy as to the truth of the documents. Again, nobody knows who wrote them, and it is disputed as to when...estimates range from the mid 1st century to the early second century. 07-07-13 11:59:53 __________________________________________________
elGuapo45 ::: Favorites First off HHJ thanks for your service, i have the upmost respect for our military. back to topic. what im getting at is, because of the abundance of manuscipt evidence that exists concerning the new testament, any other piece of literature from antiquity just pales in comparrison. in terms of age and amount. now youve named off a few ppl. is there someone, or something specific you want me to address? 07-07-13 11:38:28 __________________________________________________
hardheadjarhead ::: Favorites I mean, seriously...you're suggesting that because Aristotle and Ceasar were real, then Jeus MUST have been? C'mon. Then if you're going to try that round of special pleading, we have to accept the other gods of antiquity. Rather, look at the evidence for or against the Gospels alone, and let them stand or fall. Quit trying to steer away from the issue. 07-07-13 09:02:14 __________________________________________________
hardheadjarhead ::: Favorites The nickname has to do with service as a Marine, and my penchant as a younger man for breaking cinder blocks with my head during martial arts demos. It has nothing to do with intellectual rigidity. Ceasar and Aristotle have nothing to do with this, and are another topic entirely. Neither does Asclepius or Apollonius of Tyana or Romulus. Attempting to feed us some red herring? 07-07-13 08:56:16 __________________________________________________
elGuapo45 ::: Favorites Hard head, lol, im sorry big guy, if you took that as a personal slam, i was just point'n out what you claim to be in your name. sorry wont happen again. to answer your question no, havent read these guys. it just seems amazing to me how scribes, through out the centuries can maintain the accuracy of what is later confirmed by the dead sea scrolls. what about Ceaser and Aristotle? real or foklore? 07-07-12 21:11:49 __________________________________________________
matros22 ::: Favorites Well, should we except evidence if it's circumstantial? 07-07-12 16:16:35 __________________________________________________ |
