Description:

Cook's resignation speech in the House of Commons, received with an unprecedented standing ovation by fellow MPs, was described by the BBC's Andrew Marr as "without doubt one of the most effective, brilliant, resignation speeches in modern British politics." Most unusually for the British parliament, Cook's speech was met with growing applause from all sides of the House (beginning with Labour and Liberal Democrat critics of the war), and from the public gallery. According to the Economist's obituary, that was the only speech ever to receive a standing ovation in the history of the House.

She should have know NOT to trust such a liar. I say liar with a heavy heart as that is NOT something I find easy to say of a Leader but there is no other word for it. Blair expresses disbelief at the hardship of the Palestinians in a recent trip to the West Bank, you cannot tell me with all the resources at his disposal he did not know what us keyboard thumpers already know

personally i find Galloway an egotistical blowhard (he now is looking to leave his constituency at the next parliament and fight another one) and the worst of the old hard left. I respect Tony Benn much more. Clare explained how Blair tried to persuade her that the Iraq policy would be pursued in tandem with a new diplomatic effort on Palestine etc She admits that she was bamboozled

Clare Short damaged her reputation by refusing to resign when she said she would, she should have resigned with Cook. I disagree with your assessment of Galloway, as far as I am concerned he is the only spirit left of the real labour party

Who is the big, chunky MP on the front bench who seems to be sitting as if on a deckchair at the beach? e.g. at 1:23.

I think Clare Short is more true to the Labour movement and more a socialist then Blair ever was

Claire Short is like a female George Galloway! Robin Cook was a man of honour. Claire Short is the opposite! Simply a traitor to the Labour movement.

One woman I really admired for years was Clare Short - I thought she was the real deal - Morals first; "Labour is my Church, she said" She was very Anti war and a Socialist! 2003 shes a cabinet minister and shes was so far up Blairs bum that she could see through his eyes! "Yay to the war" She cried "Hypocrite" The voters cried - So Clare said "Im resigning cos the war is wrong and Blairs a ***" So, you get my point.Jags and shags and power are far more attractive to an average lookin man

Robin was getting the boot, he was being ushered out along with George Robertson as part of the Labour image update. Very few top politicians put their morals first believe me. It's never as simple as that. Robin was a good politician, but sadly didn't have the desired image to fit in with the "Cronies" Poor Mo Mowlam was another.

He wasnt getting the boot, he resigned as the War would be immoral and undemocratic, simple as that.
