Description: Welcome to the Harz mountains, and the Hextanzplatz (aka witches dancing place). German legend has it that Europe's witches gathered here on Walpurgisnacht (May Eve)to dance and perform the yearly spring rituals. Now, the area is geared toward tourists with an alpine slide, shops dedicated to selling "witch" ietms, spells, and potions, and many cafes serving up local cuisine. The views are spectatular, and I believe that hiking is here as well. |
